Founding Members
This photo features three of our founding staff: Lynne Uren (Secretary), Jim McGrath (Venue Operator) and Danny Markovic (Bar Manager). All three are still employed with The Hastings Club.

The Beginning

Hastings Cricket & Football Social Club Co-Operative Ltd. was formed on 3rd March, 1967, by 120 people for the express purpose of erecting club rooms at Hastings Park.

The original Directors of the Co-Operative were:

Mr E Lilywhite (Pres)
Mr R Everist (Hon Sec)
Mr N Francis, Mr F Bayne & Mr W Crosbie

After the completion of the club rooms, Hastings Cricket & Football Social Club was founded at a public meeting, held in the Club Rooms, on 30th April, 1969 and the following persons were appointed as the original committee:

Mr N Francis (Pres)
Mr E Lilywhite, Mr B Stahl (Vice Pres)
Mr R Everist (Hon Sec)
Mr R Francis (Hon Treas)
Mr N Marshall, Mr J Marshall, Mr F Bayne, Mr J Watson, Mr J Allen, Mr R Stockton, Mr D Clarke, Mr B Cooper & Mr M Mayne

The Object of the Club
(as stated in the original constitution)

"The Club is an association of male and female persons of good character over the age of eighteen years of age associated together for social, sporting and athletic purposes and is established for the purpose of providing accommodation for the members and their guests upon the premises from time to time occupied by the Club and to provide such amenities and refreshments as are customarily provided by sporting and social clubs, and to carry out and renew a club license pursuant to the Liquor Control Act of the State of Victoria."

Then...

Hastings Cricket & Football Social Club Inc. became an incorporated association under the Associations Incorporation's Act 1981 on 2nd December, 1987.

The Hastings Club went through many changes over the years:

• The first obstacle was overcome in 1974, when Hastings Cricket & Football Social Club Inc. became the first "Cricket & Football Club" in Victoria to hold a full Liquor License.
• By 1976, the members had expanded the club rooms to incorporate a separate Members Bar.
• In 1992, the members voted to put the Club "on the map" by making the decision to enter into a contract with Tattersall's and in 1993 the Club was renovated in order to accommodate 25 Tatt's pokie machines.
• The Club was under construction again in 1996, when major expansions were completed in order to accommodate 50 Tatt's machines, at the same time completely refurbishing the bistro area.
• In 1998, the club expanded yet again and opened its new Members Bar area.
• In 2005, the Club underwent it's largest redevelopment to include new Bistro, Function Room, Kids Playroom, Alfresco Dining and all new Gaming Room.

Owing to the Club Members foresight in 1992 when they first made that momentous decision to become a Tattersall's Venue, financially the Club has not looked back and now looks forward to a successful future.

The Hastings Club is the home of 4 separate Sports Clubs, is a Tattersall's Venue and is a Club proud to have the distinction of being the first 'Cricket and Football Club' in Victoria to hold a full Liquor License.

The Hastings Club has not forgotten the objects of the Club and in addition has established a Community Support Fund.

What began in 1969 as a 'tiny' sports club, with one small building, has been expanded, renovated and refurbished, and is now reputed to be "the club with the best sporting/social facilities on the Peninsula".

The Hastings Club is a club proud of its social club atmosphere.
